Title: The "Wonderful" World of Takings and Exactions and Local Land Use Controls
Description: The Federal and NH judiciary continue to reexamine an d refine the manner in which Local Government Land Use Controls apply within the limitation that a regulations to that "goes too far" may result in an unconstitutional taking of property. Recent U.S. Supreme Court decisions have added to the complexities of adopting and applying land use controls. This seminar aims to clarify and explain the law surrounding land use takings and the manner in which land use boards may impose exactions and conditions on land use approvals without triggering takings liability. Featured presenters are national land use experts Attorney Dwight Merriam from Hartford, Connecticut, and Professor John Echeverria from Vermont Law School. A seminar of this quality occurs rarely and seldom, if ever, at the reasonable rates charged by NHMLA. Early registration is suggested to secure attendance at this important event.
